Losehill Hall

Losehill Hall is a modernised Victorian mansion built in 1882. It was opened in November 1972 as Britain’s first national park study centre. It was the vision of members of the Peak National Park’s board who wanted to see the development of a centre which would help a wide range of people to understand national parks, and why they are so important.

Set in 27 acres of formal gardens and parkland it is located on the edge of Castleton village, in the very heart of the Peak National Park. Losehill Hall has evolved into an internationally recognised centre of excellence for environmental management, training and education. Our programme of courses for the general public has continued to develop with the introduction of many new weekend and summer holiday courses every year.

The Centre has recently undergone extensive refurbishment. All bedrooms are single or twin rooms with en-suite facilities and there is a well-stocked bar, a spacious dining room and a comfortable lounge. Our catering has an enviable reputation for quality and we are experienced in providing for all types of special diets.

In contrast to many other holiday centres our prices are very reasonable too. The price you pay is fully inclusive of all meals, tuition, transport during the course and accommodation, with the added bonus of no single-room supplements.

In November 1992 the work of Losehill Hall was nationally recognised when the English Tourist Board presented us with the prestigious "England for Excellence Award for Tourism and the Environment".

The neighbouring village of Castleton has much to offer the visitor to Losehill Hall. The 900 year old Peveril Castle and the fascinating limestone caverns make interesting visits and for that special memento, try the gift shops which sell many items of local interest including the famous Blue John stone.
